The John Muir Society is Sierra Club's recognition
level for members whose annual donations to the Sierra Club, The Sierra
Club Foundation or the Sierra Club Political Committee are $1000 or higher.
Named for the writer, philosopher and conservation activist who served
as the Sierra Club's first president, the John Muir Society is composed
of individuals who are committed to effective environmental protection
and understand that planning and financial stability are the keys to that
success.
Today, like the Sierra Club's earliest supporters, John Muir Society
members ensure Sierra Club's progress toward vital long-term goals and
provide the leadership necessary to carry on the tradition of environmental
advocacy established over one-hundred years ago.
In the months ahead John Muir Society Members will be at the forefront
of Sierra Club's efforts to prevent commercial logging in our National
Parks, establish new National Parks in Maine and New Hampshire, and preserve
wilderness in the Northern Rockies, Alaska and Utah. |
Donations to the Sierra Club are not tax deductible;
they support our effective,
citizen-based advocacy and lobbying efforts. (Additional
financial and regulatory information)
Your charitable, tax-deductible contributions to
The Sierra Club Foundation or the
Environmental Law Program support grants for the charitable, public
education, research,
expert testimony, and legal action necessary to further the Club's
conservation goals.
Gifts in the form of stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other properties
that have increased
in value may yield additional tax savings when given to The Sierra
Club Foundation or the
Environmental law Program. We would be pleased to provide more information
to you and/or
your advisors.
